About the time I was a senior in high school, in the state of Colorado, the local newspaper did a paper-and-pencil survey on attitudes towards sexual abuse among teens. I do not recall the specific outcome numbers, but I do remember one of the questions was whether the respondent believes a boy has a right to kiss a girl at the end of a date that he paid for, even if she does not consent.
A disturbingly large majority of respondents, male and female alike, said that yes, if a boy has paid for the date, he has a right to kiss the girl, even if it is not what she wants. It is alarming that any male would think that way, and a severe indictment on our culture that even teenage girls would share that opinion.
