My narcissistic Dad used to severely gaslight and undermine my sister’s confidence. When I was in graduate school, I had been back to my family’s house over the Christmas holiday. My sister gave me a ride back to the airport. This was about 1988 or so.
My sister walked me to the gate at the airport. I had my hands full, between coat and carry-on baggage. My sister asked if she could help me carry something. Not wanting to burden her with something heavy, I handed her my plane tickets to carry.
She choked up a little. She said Dad would never have trusted her to carry the plane tickets, because he would be convinced she’d lose them. That’s one of the saddest things I have ever heard. Seriously, screw narcissists.
