My wife and I rarely eat out anymore, and this attitude is exactly why. She has a severe food allergy (capsicum peppers), and trying to convey this to restaurant staff, have them listen, and -heaven forbid- act on that information is an exercise in frustration, and a guaranteed dose of Benadryl after dinner. Between the mediocre food, lackluster service, and the total disregard for food allergies, restaurants these days are just not worth the risk or frustration. And for anyone who thinks allergies are a joke: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-essex-47488187
