One of my sisters is a school teacher. She tells me horror stories of what goes on in the schools, and how teachers are hung out to dry by the administration.

Back in 1998, One of her students was known to be dealing drugs in school, and was caught at school with a deadly weapon. She wanted the delinquent expelled. Turned out his dad was a vice president at a national corporation. The dad made a donation to the school, and the whole thing went away. Rich white privileges FTW.

In another case, she was followed to her car in the school parking lot by a large male student who was trying to intimidate her. The administration backed the student, and the delinquent suffered no consequences.

Another of her students rarely showed up to class, never did homework, and failed all his tests. His parents pitched a fit with her on parent-teacher conference day. My sister did not back down. The parents escalated it to the principal, who buckled and ordered my sister to give the kid a passing grade.

Truth be told, I do not understand why anyone would go into teaching these days. The whole industry is in need of a massive overhaul.
