That was a fascinating read, thank you! I really related to the comment about people mistrusting you when you don’t look them in the eye. I have a difficult time with eye contact because I’m blind in my left eye.
That eye is also amblyopic, and as such it is impossible for me to look someone in both eyes at once. I usually end up looking them in one eye or the other, alternately. That kind of freaks people out, though. It’s usually easier to avoid eye contact entirely, but then I have the problem you mentioned.
Anyway, thank you again for this piece. It’s good to read a solid bit of psychology again. It’s been a while.
