This stuff needs to be taught in school. I know my life would have been a lot better if I had just known how to recognize and shut down narcissistic abuse early on. In school, we did learn the word "narcissist", but only in the context of Greek mythology. Narcissism was presented as a species of vanity, and nothing more. They painted a portrait of the narcissist as someone who thought too highly of their own attractiveness, and nothing more. It is so much more insidious.
