When I was a teen, I was really into coin collecting. I had some collectible coins on the dresser in my room. At that point, my sisters left earlier for school than I did. One school morning when I got out of the shower, I returned to my bedroom to finish getting ready for school, and noticed those coins missing.
I promptly asked my Mom if she knew where they were. She told me she took them because my sisters needed milk money.
No permission asked, and no apologies given. She just took what was mine for her personal convenience, and took it as a right.
Nobody should ever have to hide their personal possessions from housemates for fear of theft.
