When I worked in Pittsburgh, PA, I found the mass break room thing so aversive that I would sit outside in the Pgh winter rather than eat inside with the rest. That freezing, icy bench was better than sitting indoors listening to inane break room chatter. This is why the pandemic did not throw me the way it did a lot of people.
As a lifelong introvert, distancing is my natural state. So many people just don't get that. In my last job, I worked alone in a stock room. My predecessor told me that she hated the job because of the isolation. That was what I liked most about it. Different strokes, I suppose.
