Yup, all this rings true. I wrote a long piece on being a retail manager that touched on some of this. That employer worked me like a dog, kept my wages low, and no matter how hard I worked, every day would start off with my boss yelling at me for a good 10 minutes about what a slacker I was.
No exaggeration, I used to go home every day with my clothing soaked in sweat. Slacker my butt. They finally got on my last nerve and I quit. About a year later, they narrowly avoided bankruptcy and were forced to sell out for a fraction of their worth.
Not just because I quit, but my resignation was part and parcel of the pattern of bad management that led to their downfall. Karma is the bestest.
